FOUR Pasay policemen were sacked for allegedly shooting to death a pedicab driver allegedly involved in illegal drug activities despite the victim’s pleas to surrender.
Chief Insp. Rolando Baula, chief of Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB) of Pasay City police, identified the policemen as Senior Insp. Oscar Pagulayan, chief of Buendia Police Community Precinct (PCP); PO1s Melford Olorosisimo, Jan Erwin Isaac and Benigno Balayjay.
Baula the said policemen are confined at the District Personnel Holding and Counting Section of Southern Police District (SPD) while investigation on the death of Eric Sison, 26, of 1696 F. Muñoz St., Bgy. 43, Zone 6, Pasay City, is ongoing.
The incident took place past 1 a.m. Wednesday inside the house of Sison’s neighbor.
Sison suffered 14 gunshot wounds. He was shot dead despite his pleas to surrender.
Police earlier claimed that they were about to accost Sison but he sprinted inside his house after which he fired at the officers, who fired back, hitting him in the right foot.
Police said Sison climbed to the roof of his house and entered the house of a neighbor through an open window where he tried to hide.
An audio recording, taken by Sison’s neighbor, was heard that the policemen were asking Sison to surrender on the count of three.
Sison, on the other hand, shouted “’Wag po, susuko na po, susuko na po.”
It was at this point that successive gunshots were heard, killing Sison.
Rachel Bernoy, 19, live-in partner of Sison, decried the alleged overkill and claimed that Sison was not involved in illegal drugs and he did not own a gun.
