TWO suspects included in the watchlist of top 20 drug personalities of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) were slain Thursday night in a shootout with policemen in Quezon City.
QCPD acting director Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said the suspects were identified only through their aliases as Jeffrey, about 25 to 30 years old, and Buyo, 40-45 years old.
A report gathered from the QCPD-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said that the incident happened at around 9:35 p.m. Thusday on Mindanao Avenue, Bgy. Talipapa, QC.
Operatives of the Station Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (SAID-SOTG) of QCPD Station 3 conducted an anti-drug operation against the suspects.
An undercover operative acted as a buyer. Sensing the presence of other operatives, who took cover at the adjacent concrete fence and served as back-up of the poseur buyer, the suspects immediately pulled out their handguns and fired at the officers. At that juncture, the lawmen retaliated, killing the two suspects.
Recovered from the suspects were an improvised handgun loaded with one live ammunition for cal. .45, a Colt .44 Magnum loaded with three rounds of ammunition and an unejected fired cartridge case, four fired cartridge cases and two deformed slugs for unknown type of handgun, three plastic sachets of undetermined quantity of shabu and a lighter.
Eleazar said the operation was part of the QCPD’s intensified implementation of Project: Double Barrel of the PNP in relation to Oplan: Tokhang/Kapak.
