TWO suspected holduppers were killed after allegedly shooting it out with patrolling members of the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 3 atop the Altura Bridge in Sampaloc, Manila.
PO1 Emar Trani, PO1 Judel Gonzales and PO1 Aldrich Aglaua reportedly saw the two hop at the center island as they tried to cross to the other side of the street.
Suspecting that the two were in a hurry as they had just victimized someone, the cops began approaching them but were met with gunfire from one of the suspects.
Aglaua was the first to draw his gun and fired back while his companions followed suit, until the duo fell dead. It was learned that after the armed suspect fell, his companion tried to get the gun and was only prevented from using it against the police when he, too, was shot.
The two were described to be between 25 and 35 years old, about 5’4” to 5’6” tall and wearing black shirts. One was armed with a cal. .38 gun while the other with a fan knife.
Gonzales said the second suspect would have been spared if he just raised his hands in surrender instead of getting his companion’s gun.
A probe by SPO3 Milbert Balinggan of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the incident took place at around 10 p.m. while police were patrolling aboard Mobile Car 418.
Aside from the knife and cal. .38 revolver, also recovered from the suspects were three small plastic sachets of suspected shabu.
