PHILIPPINE National Police chief Director General Ronald ‘Bato’ M. de la Rosa yesterday said local government executives and police personnel included in President Duterte’s list of drug protectors and traffickers are assured of ‘’due process.’’
The top cop made the assurance as he personally received 31 PNP personnel and 27 local officials who voluntarily appeared in Camp Crame after they were named by President Duterte as involved in illegal drugs.
He said the names of these local officials and policemen were generated from an initial list that underwent a validation workshop by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the PNP, the Armed Forces and the intelligence services.
The Chief PNP said those who yielded yesterday will undergo documentation and investigation to further validate intelligence holdings of the PNP about their alleged activities.
The PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group headed by Chief Superintendent Roel B. Obusan will handle the investigation of elective local officials while the PNP Internal Affairs Service under Director Alexander Roldan and the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management headed by Chief Supt. Fernando H. Mendez Jr. will handle the investigation of the PNP personnel, dela Rosa said.
