OLONGAPO City -- A suspected drug pusher was killed over the weekend after shooting police officers who accosted him in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Bgy. Barretto, here.

Olongapo City police director Senior Supt. Jerry Sumbad identified the suspect as Eduardo Gonzales, alias “Bukol”, of the said barangay.
Sumbad said that at about 9 p.m., a police team was dispatched to check the information given by residents on Gabaya St., Bgy. Barretto, about the rampant selling of shabu in the area.
Police tried to approach Gonzales after seeing him on board his Rusi motorcycle while selling suspected shabu. However, instead of surrendering, the suspect pulled out a cal. .38 revolver and fired at the officers, who returned fire and killed him.
Recovered from the suspect were the handgun with four live bullets and four sachets of suspected shabu.
Sumbad said Gonzales, who surrendered to police under Oplan Tokhang last July 20, has a pending case for violation of RA 9165 filed at Regional Trial Court Branch 74.
