TWO unidentified robbers were killed in what police claimed as a shootout after they allegedly chance upon the suspects while robbing a taxi driver yesterday in Las Piñas City.

Senior Supt. Jemar Modequillo, Las Piñas police chief, said one of the suspects died on the spot due to several bullet wounds in the body while the other was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Modequillo said the suspects allegedly tried to rob taxi driver Marcelo Sosun Docillo, at 4 a.m. along Alabang Zapote Road in Las Piñas City.
Docillo told police that the suspects flagged him down in Pulang Lupa and asked to take them to Alabang.
However, when they reached the area, one of the suspects seated beside him pulled a gun and declared a holdup while the other suspect seated behind him took his wallet containing more than P1,000, he said.
He added that he rammed the taxi on the sidewalk when he noticed a police mobile car passing by.
The suspects panicked and jumped out of the cab and fired at the policemen, who retaliated, killing them.
