3 soldiers hurt in Basilan ambuscades

THREE soldiers were wounded in two separate ambuscades allegedly perpetrated by suspected members of  the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) before dawn yesterday in Maluso, Basilan.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)-Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) spokesman Major Felimon Tan said the ambuscades occurred at 3:30 a.m. and 3:50 a.m. in Bgy. townsite, Maluso.
Accordingly,  eight members of the 14th Special Forces Company on board a military truck were on security patrol operation during the feast day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the said municipality when the ambush occurred that resulted in the wounding of two enlisted personnel of the Army.
After 20 minutes, the bandits also ambushed a group of soldiers rushing the two enlisted personnel to Ballano Clinic in Bgy. Townsite.
The second ambush resulted in the wounding of one soldier.
