KENYANS made history Saturday afternoon, besting top local and other Asian bets in the 1st Pilipinas Akyathlon -- The Philippine International Skyrace at Mount Ugo, Bgy. Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet.
A Skyrace is defined as a mountain train running race at high altitude, 2,000 meters above sea level or more.
Eluid Kering and Jackson Chirchir were the first and second finish crossers in the 34-kilometer out and back footrace hatched by the Philippine Skyrunning Association (PSA).
Kering timed 3 hours and 42.36 minutes, while compatriot Chirchir came in at 3 hours and 46 minutes. Both led the race all the way held at the scenic Mt. Ugo despite getting lost in the last two kilometers of the race.
Mario Maglinao was the first Filipino to cross the line with a time of 3 hours and 59.46 minutes to place third behind the two Kenyans.
