5 p.m. -- UST-Ironcon vs. JRU
6:30 p.m. -- Wang’s Ballclub vs. Skyforce
IT will be UAAP vs. NCAA all over again as defending champion University of Santo Tomas-Ironcon Builders and Jose Rizal University dispute the solo lead in the MBL Invitational Cup basketball championship at the Aquinas gym.
Game time is 5 p.m. with the Tigers and the Heavy Bombers expected to go all-out for victory in the race for the top spot in this 10-team tournament supported by Smart Sports, Cebuana Lhuillier, Dickies Underwear, PRC Couriers and Parola Maritime.
Handled by coach Pido Jarencio and supported by businessman-sportsman Jimi Lim, the Tigers swept their first six assignments to move within three games of completing a rare nine-game sweep.
The Heavy Bombers of coach Vergel Meneses and manager Paul Supan also won their first six assignments before dropping a heartbreaking 81-82 decision to Skyforce last Feb. 2.
Skyforce (4-3) and Wang’s Ballclub (4-3) square off in the 6:30 p.m game in an all-important match for the remaining semis berths.
Skyforce and Wang’s are presently tied with identical 4-3 win-loss slates with the winner joining idle Mapua-Mighty Sports at 5-3.
Letran College (4-2) and MOB ( 3-4) are the other two teams still in the hunt for the remaining semis slots.
