PHILADELPHIA -- With Dwyane Wade and LeBron James doing most of the damage, the Miami Heat outduelled Philadelphia 76ers, 99-79, in the battle of division leaders in the NBA on Friday.
Wade fnished with with 26 points while James added 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Heat, who pulled away with a dominant 15-0 run and handed the Sixers just their third home loss of the season.
“We’re a dynamic team,” said Wade, who used a pair of ferocious dunks during the game-changing run that pushed the Sixers’ first sellout crowd of the season toward the exits.
“Tonight was probably the best game from start to finish, as far as playing hard and communicating on both ends, that we had all season,” said James.
Mario Chalmers added 13 points and Chris Bosh contributed 12 to help the Heat, who bounced back from a 97-105 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks despite getting a season-high 40 points from James.
Thaddeus Young scored 16 points and Jrue Holiday and Jodie Meeks added 13 points apiece for the Sixers, who snapped a four-game winning streak.
Andre Iguodala was limited to only 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting.
In other games, Los Angeles Lakers subdued Denver Nuggets, 93-89; Boston Celtics outsteadied New York Knicks, 91-89; Indiana Pacers shocked Dallas Mavericks, 98-87; Orlando Magic humbled Cleveland Cavaliers, 102-94; Oklahoma City Thunder outplayed Memphis Grizzlies, 101-94; Minnesota Timberwolves downed New Jersey Nets, 108-105; Houston Rockets beat Phoenix Suns, 99-81; Detroit Pistons outgunned Milwaukee Bucks, 88-80; and Torotnto Raptors nipped Washington Wizards, 106-89.
In Denver, Andrew Bynum scored 22 points and Kobe Bryant had 20 points as the Lakers opened a season-high six-game trip with a rare win at the Pepsi Center.
Pau Gasol added 14 points and 17 rebounds for the Lakers, who won for the third time in 10 road games this season and prevailed in snowy Denver for only the second time in their last seven trips.
Rookie Andrew Goudelock finished with 13 points.
The Lakers’ win , however, wasn’t secured until Al Harrington missed a 3-point attempt with two seconds left that would have put Denver ahead.
“A step-back, that’s my favorite shot,” said Harrington, who hit two big 3-pointers earlier in the fourth quarter. “I thought it was going to go in.”
Matt Barnes was fouled on the rebound and sank two free throws with two-tenths of a second left.
Harrington finished with 24 points for the Nuggets, who defeated the Clippers, 112-91, at Staples Center on Thursday.
After the win over the Clippers, the Nuggets immediately flew back to Denver, which was g etting hit by a storm that dumped more than a foot on snow on the Mile High City.
In Boston, Paul Pierce scored 30 points and Kevin Garnett reached a rebounding milestone in the Celtics’seventh victory in eight games.
Ray Allen scored nine of his 14 points in the last five minutes for the Celtics, who rallied to beat the Knicks.
Garnett totaled 15 points and eight rebounds, grabbing his 10,000th career defensive rebound in the second quarter.
He became the third player in NBA history to reach the mark, joining former Celtic Robert Parish (10,117) and Karl Malone (11,406).
The Celtics also welcomed back the return of Rajon Rondo, who missed eight games with a right wrist injury. He had seven points with seven assists.
Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 26 points. Tyson Chandler fouled out with 20 points and 11 rebounds and Amare Stoudemire had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Knicks, who led by 12 early in the third quarter, have now lost 11 of 13 and fallen to 8-15 overall.
In Dallas, Paul George scored a career-high 30 points for Indiana, making 11 of 19 shots including seven of 11 from three-point range.
David West added 20 points for the Pacers, while Danny Granger had 16 and Darren Collison 13.
Roy Hibbert, the other Indiana starter, had nine points and 14 rebounds.
The Pacers have won four consecutive games, three of those on the road. Their 10 road victories are tied with Chicago for the most in the NBA this season.
Dirk Nowitzki had a season-high 30 points for the Mavericks, failed to score on nine of their first 12 possessions of the second half.
Nowitzki said the team felt the absence of injured point guard Jason Kidd.
“Without Kidd out there directing the ball, it’s hard,” said Nowitzki.
Kidd could return as early as Wednesday, when the Mavericks play at Denver.
The defeat came on the same day that Mavs owner Mark Cuban and Carlisle were fined by the NBA.
Cuban was fined $75,000 for criticizing the referees after a 95-86 loss to Oklahoma City.
Carlisle was docked $35,000 for kicking a basketball into the stands at that game.
“I think it’s fair. It’s irresponsible for a ball to go in the stands. You’re subject to a fine.”
