LETRAN College again relied on the impressive performance of top singles player Dave Regencia to plaster University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 3-0, and stay on top of the 87th National Collegiate Athletic Association lawn tennis tournament at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Adriatico, Manila.
St. Benilde, meanwhile, blanked San Sebastian College, 3-0, in the other featured match in the tournament hosted by Jose Rizal University.
The Altas absorbed their third loss in seven games and dropped to fifth, while the Stags slid to 5-2 in a tie with the San Beda College Red Lions.
In other senior matches, Arellano University prevailed over Mapua, 2-1, to improve to 3-4, while handing the Cardinals their fifth loss in seven games.
Jose Rizal University topped Emilio Aguinaldo College, 2-1, to finally barge into the win column with a 1-7 mark.
The Squires turned back the Light Bombers, 2-1, to also stay unscathed in the juniors division with seven straight wins.
The Staglets slipped past the Red Cubs , 2-1, to climb into a tie for second with their victims on similar 6-1 cards.
In other juniors results, the Junior Blazers downed the Junior Altas, 2-1, to stay at third place with a 5-3 card, while the EAC Brigadiers picked up their second victory against five losses at the expense of the Red Robins, who remain winless after seven games, tying the Light Bombers for last place.
