Game Today (Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig City)
7 p.m. – AirAsia PH Patriots vs Saigon
The AirAsia Philippine Patriots, brimming with a new-found confidence, shoot for their first back-to-back win when they clash against the Saigon Heat today in the 3rd AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Patriots coach Glenn Capacio was happy with their performance the last time that saw them rotate the ball with razor-sharp precision and defend their fort as if guarding a treasure vault on the way to posting an 86-73 win over the Indonesian Warriors.
“We played much better than in our last game, especially on the defensive end,” said Capacio.
“Offensively, we were able to move the ball well because in our system, lahat dapat makatanggap ng bola.”
But Capacio hopes to play much smarter and tougher when they face the Heat for the first time at 7 p.m. in the game presented by PG Plex Linoleum.
Their win over the Warriors – the team they beat in winning the inaugural championship – enabled them to ease the pain brought about by their stinging 78-70 defeat to the Beermen last week.
“It was a confidence-building win and I hope it could be the start of something good for the team,” said co-team owner Mikee Romero. “But they should not take the Heat for granted.”
