NAGT series kicks off in Subic

THE Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) shifts its recruitment program into high gear by launching the 2012 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) series presented by Century Tuna on Feb. 5 in scenic Subic.

Adult age-grouper triathletes can have the benefit of choosing which race to participate, either in the standard course (1.5 km swim-40 km bike-10km run) or in the sprint distance course (750M swim-20km bike-5 km run).

Triathletes aged 16-19-years-old will be racing with sprint distance, while participants aged 13 to 15, as well as first-timer adult participants will endure the mini-sprint course (350m swim-16km biek-2.5km run).

Not to be outdone, however, is the SuperTriKids Aquathlon which will be composed of 200m swim-400m run (for participants aged 9 to 10) and 350m swim-1.5km run (for 11-12 years).

At stake in the event sponsored by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Century Tuna, Gatorade, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines Inc., and ARENA, are medals and gift certificates for the top 3 winners of each age-group as well as those in the sprint, mini-sprint and STK aquathlon.

All participants can avail of post-race brunch which will be offered starting at 8:30 a.m.

Inside the Subic Bay Freeport, the swim will be held at Dungaree Beach. Cycling starts at the beach venue reaching specific turning points around the Freeport. Afterwards, participants return to Dungaree Beach for the run leg and the finish line.
