UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System Dalta and Letran seek to seal an unlikely finals showdown when they take on separate foes today in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Lady Altas try to repeat over the reigning six-time champion San Sebastian College in their 10 a.m. duel, while the Lady Knights want to exact revenge against Emilio Aguinaldo College at 3 p.m.
Victories by the Lady Stags and the Lady Generals would deem the games on Monday as ‘do or die’ matches for the two berths in the best-of-three championship , with San Sebastian battling EAC and Perpetual Help facing Letran.
Extending their winning run to 10 which dates back in the eliminations, the Lady Altas made short work of the Lady Generals, 25-19, 25-18, 25-13, at the start of the ‘Final Four’ last Wednesday.
The Lady Knights, on the other hand, reasserted their mastery of the Lady Stags, 25-17, 20-25, 26-24, 25-21.
The Dec. 2 match-up between Perpetual Help and San Sebastian at the San Beda Gym was a controversial one, with a ‘brawl’ that took place in the third set, where San Beda basketball coach Frankie Lim and some Red Lions players were involved along with Lady Stags mentor Roger Gorayeb.
San Sebastian decided to concede the match to the Lady Altas.
