World Slasher Cup: Champion known today


TWENTY two unbeaten entries plunge into action today during the grand finals of the World Slasher Cup 8-Cock Invitational Derby at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

More than 120 matches are lined-up in the 50th anniversary edition of the meet. Fights start at 2 p.m.

Hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions, the 2012 World Slasher Cup is co-presented by  Thunderbird Romoxtyl & Thunderbird Ganador Max, with BMeg as minor sponsor.

All eyes are expected on the Thunderbird Sabongnation team composed of Engr. Sonny Lagon (Blue Blade DMM RJM MMP), 2-time champ Rey Briones (Spartans Palawan); Kalinga’s 3-time Congressman Lawrence Wacnang with Cong. Cosalan (Crowsland Silver Wings) and Boy Lechon (MRV San Rival) combined with Erik Abella & Atty. Bong Villanueva, all of whom had 4 points.

They will be joined by Bernie Tacoy (Ormoc Golden Warriors JB) and new GMP endorser Wilson Ong (Mario Jimmy Octagon-2) of  Dumaguete City with Mario Villamor & Jimmy Junsay, as the group are just a notch below with 3.5 points.

Other championship hopefuls, also with 4-0 win-loss card, are RMT/E3 Mahakam Farm – II of Rey Tolentino & Soan Goginato; RAS-JR of Atty. Jun Salazar; SSF-Kaizen Ohio Marvin Aces of Coun. Marvin Rillo, Noel Jarin & James Campbell and Karamba RSW of Engr. Rhemy Medrano
