Spurs improve to 9-0 at home


SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Spurs kept their perfect record at home intact by beating the banged-up Phoenix Suns 102-91 Sunday behind a 24 point, 11 rebound performance from Tim Duncan.

Tony Parker finished with 17 points and nine assists for San Antonio, who have won three straight and all of their nine games at home this season. The Spurs are winless in four games on the road.

The Spurs are off to their best start at home since the 2007-2008 National Basketball Association season when they won 13 straight.

Marcin Gortat had 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Suns who had several key players playing hurt on Sunday.

Steve Nash returned to the Phoenix lineup after missing the previous contest with a charley horse and finished with 20 points and 10 assists. Markieff Morris added 14 points.

Grant Hill, who also missed the last game with a sore right quad muscle, was back in the lineup for the Suns who have lost four consecutive contests. Hill played 23 minutes and had just four points.

The Spurs were without Argentina’s Manu Ginobili who has a broken left hand.

San Antonio led by 10 points, 78-68, heading into the final quarter and by as much as 18 early in the third. Duncan helped seal the win by draining a 17-foot jump shot in the final minutes.

Warriors, 99, Pistons 91

Auburn Hills - David Lee scored 24 points and Monta Ellis added 22 to help the Golden State Warriors win on the road for the first time this season, 99-91 over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.

Golden State won at Detroit for the second time in its last 17 visits. Greg Monroe had 25 points and eight rebounds for the Pistons.

Ellis scored 17 points in the second half.

Lee’s streak of double-doubles ended at six games. He fouled out with 4:40 remaining with only six rebounds.

Jazz 106, Nuggets 96

Denver - Paul Millsap had 26 points and 12 rebounds, Al Jefferson added 18 points and 12 rebounds and Utah beat the Nuggets.

Gordon Hayward scored 19 points and Devin Harris and Alec Burks added 10 points each for the Jazz, winners of seven of their last eight.

Danilo Gallinari scored 18 points, Nene had 17 and Arron Afflalo 16 for the Nuggets.
