Rosemarie Vargas scattered 17 of her game-high 20 points from attacks, while Mayjorie Roxas and Wenneth Eulalio added 10 hits apiece for the Lady Tamaraws.
In a match which could be the turning point in its bid to make a return semifinals appearance after a two-year absence, FEU takes on defending champion La Salle on Wednesday.
The Lady Tamaraws, who are 3-1 since ace spiker Maica Morada left the team, lost to the Lady Archers in five sets in the first round.
“Kailangan pa ng konting jelling, may mga napapa-practice kami na hindi naa-apply sa laro,” said FEU mentor Nes Pamilar.
Lady Tamaraws Libero Christine Agno also delivered by scoring 20 digs.
Cai Nepomuceno unloaded 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who suffered their seventh straight setback.
In the men’s division, Arvin Avila banged in a season-high 22 points as FEU avenged its five-set loss to defending four-time champion University of Santo Tomas in the first round with a 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17 victory.
The two powerhouses are now tied on top with identical 6-2 cards.
