PNP-CSG now ISO-certified

THE Philippine National Police-Civil Security Group is now a truly ISO-certified office, a world-class government agency that offers excellent service to the public.

Headed by Chief Superintendent Roque G. Ramirez, the PNP-CSG supervises the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office headed by Chief Supt. Napoleon R. Estilles and the PNP Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies headed by Senior Supt. Buenaventura M. Viray Jr.

The project to turn the PNP-CSG into an ISO-certified office was started by its former chief, now PNP Chief Directorial Staff Director Emelito T. Sarmiento, as part of its commitment to support the development of a management system that will ensure quality service.

The PNP-CSG, the FEO and the SOSIA have embarked on a modern information technology program aimed at providing speedy and quality service to the public as part of its effort to adopt the fast-changing modern world of information technology and communication.

Sarmiento and Ramirez are classmates at the Philippine Military Academy Class 1980 of PNP chief Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome. The project to standardize the Quality Management System of the PNP-CSG, the PNP-FED and the PNP-SOSIA was in accordance with the International Organization for Standardization.

Sarmiento said that the current adoption of CSG to ISO certification was focused on the consistent improvement of business processes and objectives to enhance service quality lane and customer satisfaction by identifying areas for improvement and creating measurable targets.

Stakeholders will be best served through fast and efficient processing time apart from having an improved access to relevant information needed.

The certification process began in December 2010 when the PNP-CSG executed several internal audits across its support offices prior to the Preliminary Audit conducted by the TUV Rheinland  Philippines, Inc. represented by   Ms. Minda Fe Villapando and Mr. Jayzer Aquino.

Achieving ISO certification requires tedious process but once in place, it will provide the benchmark to best management standards and practices of the CSG, he said.

“Our vision towards ISO Certification is straightforward. That is to implement appropriate   Quality Management System that will tremendously change the performance of our office and that of the PNP-FEO and the PNP-SOSIA,” Sarmiento said.
