Malacanang is pat in barring former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former First Gentleman Atty. Mike Arroyo from leaving the country and escaping the string of cases filed against them.
The Commission on Elections filed yesterday against Mrs. Arroyo electoral sabotage in the 2007 elections at a Pasay City court. Mrs. Arroyo’s husband was excluded in the case for insufficient of evidence.
Presidential adviser on political affairs Ronald Llamas said that the Aquino government is resolved not to allow Mrs. Arroyo and former first gentleman Atty. Mike Arroyo to fly abroad and insisted that they should face the music.
“The Arroyo couple has made it clear during the events of the past days that their only motivation is to escape and the government and the people have clearly spoken. GMA should not be allowed to escape and should be brought to justice,” Llamas said in a text message yesterday to Palace reporters.
Llamas reacted to the junking by the Supreme Court of the motion for reconsideration of the Solicitor General to lift the temporary restraining order (TRO) on the watchlist order of the Department of Justice on the Arroyo couple.
