A man who was said to be left by his wife for another man committed suicide in front of his 15-year-old son inside the vehicle the other night in La Union.

The fatality was identified as Doroteo Sanchez, 55, of Bgy. Gusing Sur, Naguillan, La Union.

Reports reaching Camp Crame showed the incident occurred at around 11:50 p.m. in front of the house of the victim.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim earlier had a drinking session with his siblings and decided to sleep inside their van with his son.

After few hours, a gunshot was heard inside the van followed by a loud cry from the boy, saying his dad committed suicide.

It was learned that the victim shot his head using a .357 homemade gun.

According to victim’s mother, Felissa Sanchez, 87, her son was deserted by his wife in favor of their neighbor.

She added that this might be the reason why her son committed suicide.

Authorities are now conducting follow-up investigation into the incident.
