SUSPECTED rogue members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) abducted a businesswoman the other night in Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur.
Zamboanga del Sur police director Senior Supt. Bayani Gucela identified the victim as Monaliza Kapa, 40, ice plant owner and fish trader.
Reports reaching Camp Crame showed the abduction occurred at 6 p.m. in Bgy. Poblacion, Pitogo.
Investigators said the victim was standing in the area when the suspects appeared and at gunpoint, dragged the victim to a pump boat locally known as “bote” and fled.
Gucela said the suspects were monitored heading for Zamboanga Sibugay where MILF commander Wanning Abdusalam was hiding.
He said Abdusalam is engaged in kidnap for ransom activities in the area.
As of press time yesterday, there was no ransom demand received from the kidnappers. A crisis management committee was formed to negotiate for the release of the victim.
