Robbers kill man, hurt wife in Bacolod

A man was stabbed dead while his wife was wounded by a suspected snatcher shortly after they resisted the robbery outside a mall the other day in Bacolod City.

The victim was identified as Napoleon Perez Sr., 56, of  Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental. He died on the spot due to a stab wound in the chest.

Taken to the nearest hospital was Madeline Perez, 53, wife of the victim.

Police arrested the suspect identified as Roberto Lambanecio, 18.

Reports reaching Camp Crame said the incident occurred at around 6 p.m. outside a mall in Bgy. Singcang, Bacolod City.

Initial investigation revealed that the victims were about to board their car after buying things when the suspect approached them.

Pointing a bladed weapon, the suspect declared holdup but Napoleon resisted, prompting the suspect to stab him. He also stabbed the victim’s wife when she shouted for help.

Security guards of the mall and bystanders caught the suspect who was turned over to the Bacolod City Police Station.
