P60-M cocaine seized

SOME 11 kilograms of cocaine worth P60 million were surrendered to the Borongan City police in Eastern Samar by a local government employee who found them Thursday last week.

Reynaldo Cillo, of BGY. Libuton, Borongan City, contacted the local police after discovering the 10 bricks of suspected high-grade cocaine wrapped in brown packaging tapes Thursday afternoon, said Police Regional Office 8 director Chief Supt. Arnold Revilla.

Revilla said the Borongan City police took custody of the drugs pending their turnover to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Revilla took the occasion to appeal anew to local Samar residents to surrender cocaine currently in their possession. A number of Samar residents have been arrested for trying to sell the drugs to undercover officers shortly after an estimated two tons of the drugs were jettisoned into the Samar waters by a Chinese drug syndicate trying to escape from United States Drug Enforcement Administration agents on December 2009.        Alfred Dalizon
