CAMP Olivas, Pampanga -- Two unidentified armed men went on a shooting spree in Angeles City, killing a village councilman and his companion over the weekend.

Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono, Angeles City police director, identified the victims as Jovito Canda and Rene Gutierrez. Canda reportedly holds a sensitive position in the barangay council of Amsic. 

Recomono said another companion of the victims, Rodrigo Cayanan, was seriously hurt after he was hit by a stray bullet.

Cayanan was placed under heavy guard while being observed in an undisclosed hospital in Angelels City.

In his report to Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Supt. Rodrigo T. Ladao, Recomono said the victims were drinking in front of the councilman’s residence when the suspects appeared and shot them.

Witnesses, who declined to be identified for fear of repraisal, said the suspects were wearing masks.

Recomono said a team from the investigation unit of ACPO were tracking down the suspects.

Meanwhile, Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan condemned the recent killings and called for the police to use any means in their possession in the early resolution of the crime.                        Rudy Abular
