AN opposition lawmaker yesterday challenged President Benigno Aquino III to look into the reported use of fake travel papers by Sen. Panfilo Lacson.
Zambales Rep. Ma. Milagros Magsaysay said his call on the President to uphold the rule of law in connection with Lacson’s return is in line with his “straight path” campaign.
‘‘The PNoy administration should get to the bottom and act on this as a sitting senator violated the law by using fake document,” Magsaysay told reporters. She said Aquino should order a thorough investigation into the matter.
The lawmaker made her reaction after Foreign Undersecretary for Administration Rafael E. Seguis disclosed in a letter to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima that the travel document which Lacson used to re-enter the country on March 26 is “still with the Department of Foreign Affairs and has not yet been sent out” to any Philippine embassy or consulate abroad.
Seguis said the Philippine consulates in Hong Kong, Macau, Xiamen and Guangzhou denied issuing a travel document to Lacson.
