NAIC, Cavite—Outstanding favorite Yes Pogi won the Classic race as expected under regular partner Manolito Daquis on Sunday, overpowering three other veteran runners  as the 16th San Miguel-MARHO racing festival came to a close at the Santa Ana Park here.

The 4-year-old Yes Pogi slowly but steadily raced away leaving the far turn and charged home unopposed with a time of 2 minutes and 00.7 seconds in the 2000-meter race, the main event of a rich 13-race program that climaxed the week-long racefest.

The most successful horse in 2010 who came within a leg of sweeping the prestigious Triple Crown Series, Yes Pogi  finished about 10 lengths in front of second choice Gastambide, ridden by Rodeo Fernandez, as he nailed his biggest victory thus far in the season  worth P1 million for owner Francis Lim.

Darleb, handled by Patti Dilema, and multi-titled Carriedo, guided by Jesse Guce,  never figured seriously and wound up third and fourth, respectively.

In another rich event disputed over the same distance,top choice  Juggling Act rallied from as far back as 10 lengths to beat coupled entry Gentle Irony in the Ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco, Jr. Cup and reward his stable the top prize of P1.2 million.

Under heavy whipping from Jonathan Hernandez, Juggling Act overtook Gentle Irony in the closing strides, winning by about 2 lengths and negotiating the 2000-m race in 2 minutes and 05 seconds Queen Star came in third, with Sun Tan Tony placing fourth.
