CABANATUAN City – Six persons were arrested for drunk-driving while 112 vehicles were impounded after authorities intensified checkpoint operation and implementation of the “No Plate, No Travel Policy” Wednesday.
Arrested were Mark Bonilla, 25,; Edgardo Rupac, Jr., 38; Jovener Cuevas, 24; Michael Tenado, 25; Rodel de Belen, 50 and Jackie Chan Mata, 30.
They were nabbed for driving under the influence of liquor and for refusing to stop when flagged down by authorities.
Provincial police director Senior Supt. Roberto L. Aliggayu said at least 73 motorcycles, 38 tricycles and a four-wheeled vehicle were impounded in separate operations conducted in Baluarte, Gapan City; Baloc, Sto. Domingo; Tayabo, San Jose City; and in barangays Valdefuente, Bantug Norte, and Kapitan Pepe Subdivision.
Aliggayu said the operations were launched by the Provincial Public Safety Company and the Highway Patrol Group led by Supt. Edgar Alan O. Okubo and Chief Insp. Carlito A. Narag, Jr. respectively.
Okubo said the operation in Cabanatuan yielded the most number of violators with at least 49 motorcycles and 34 tricycles impounded.
