A woman died after she got hit by two taxis while trying to cross EDSA in Quezon City past midnight yesterday.
Chief Insp. Reynaldo Medina Jr., chief of the Traffic Sector 1 of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), has yet to identify the victim.
Medina described the woman as between 40 and 45 years old, of medium build, brown complexioned, wore short hair, blue t-shirt and striped short pants. He said the woman died on the spot after being hit by two taxis at 1 a.m. in front of an outpost in Bgy. Unang Sigaw.
Witnesses told police that the victim was trying to cross EDSA but got hit by a taxi that was coming from Congressional Avenue.
After getting knocked down, the woman was immediately hit again by another taxi coming from the same direction, apparently not noticing her.
The sector chief lamented that no one was able to get the plate numbers of the two taxis.
Medina noted that the area was well lighted but at that time many vehicles usually drive fast along EDSA.
He said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has already placed wire fences along EDSA and posted warning signs to prevent people from crossing and getting into accidents.
He said the victim should have used a footbridge nearby. Melnie Ragasa-Jimena
