POLICE yesterday announced the arrest of one of three gunmen who abducted and killed a candidate for councilor in Cotabato City last Monday.

Police Regional Office 12 director Chief Supt. Josefino G. Cataluna said suspect Tony Bacar, a farmer from Barangay Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao was recuperating from a gunshot wound in the chest when arrested in his hideout in Barangay San Pablo, Rosary Heights 11, Cotabato City .

Cataluna said the suspect confessed his role in the abduction and killing of Joseph Khalipser M. Kuan, 39, and named his accomplices and the mastermind.

Police are hunting down Zacaria Ando alias Mader Abdullah and Madia Anki alias Dado Angkay, of Sitio Satur, Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat town.

Cataluna said Bacar also pointed to Mansor Kanapia, alias Mansor Abunawas, as the one who ordered the abduction and killing of  the victim. He said Bacar was wounded when the victim tried to grab his gun but went off.

Kuan was to bring his daughters Jay Ann,14, and Czarie,6, to their school in Rosary Heights 11 when he was flagged down by the suspects.   Alfred Dalizon
