A COMPLAINT was filed before the Manila Police District (MPD) against four men who allegedly introduced themselves as policemen and barged into a compound in Tondo, Manila yesterday on the pretext that they were raiding a gambling den, only to end up running off with the money of two residents from the area.
The owners of the money who lodged a formal complaint before the MPD-general assignment section headed by Chief Inspector Mar Reyes were Nenita Bondoc, 54, and Emilia Javier, 58, both residents of Raxabago Street in Tondo.
Initial investigation made by PO1 Marlon Añonuevo said that at around 12:30 p.m. yesterday, the four alleged cops arrived in Raxabago aboard a white multicab with red plate, SHT-560.
The “cops” then entered the gate of Bondoc’s residence, saying they were there to stop gambling activities taking place in one of the houses in the compound where Bondoc’s house was located.
Bondoc told the men that if there were any gambling in the area, it is not in his home but in a nearby store.
Sensing that the “cops” were up to something, Bondoc warned them that they are being caught on CCTV but that upon hearing this, the four men hurriedly left the area, after taking Javier’s wallet and P1,500 from Bondoc.
When the suspects arrived, Bondoc said he was having a manicure while Javier was eating.
The complainants said they had no way of knowing the identities of the suspects since they were not wearing uniforms and therefore did not have any name plate.
Reyes meanwhile ordered his men to trace under which office the said multicab is assigned. Itchie G. Cabayan
