CLARK Freeport, Pampanga – A top ranking official of Clark Development Corp. yesterday announced the upgrading of the import and export automated system project of the Bureau of Customs in compliance with the electronic transit and admission permit system (E-TAPS) of Clark and Subic Bay Freeport Zones. CDC president Benigno N. Ricafort said the automation project dubbed E2M or “electronic-to-mobile” seeks to streamline BoC’s import and export processes and improve trade facilitation between the bureau and its stakeholders, including other government agencies, through the development and integration of various systems using the Internet and SMS or text messaging. To transact in the E2M Customs environment, the importers and brokers must have valid and active Client Customs Number from the Client Profile Registration System. Importers and exporters should have bank account information and bank reference numbers of their Authorized Agent Banks for payment of customs duties and taxes. Ricafort said the firms should also have appropriate licenses, clearance and permits from concerned agencies for their importation. He requested the locators to comply with the guidelines before the Feb. 16 deadline to avoid inconveniences in the filing of import and port permits. Rudy J. Abular |
