THERE is no stopping duly-elected Bulacan Gov. Roberto “Obet” Pagdanganan from assuming office after he got an order from the Department of the Interior and Local Government yesterday afternoon. Pagdanganan said he was to go straight to Provincial Capitol in Malolos and take his oath of ofice before any notary public amid barricades from supporters of ousted Gov. Joselito “Jonjon” Mendoza who vowed to support their recognized leader to the end. In an order to DILG Region III director Renato Brion, Undersecretary Austere Panadero cited the issuance of a writ of execution by the Commission on Elections en banc. Earlier, the Comelec en banc denied Mendoza’s motion for reconsideration for lack of merit, paving the way for Pagdanganan’s assumption of office. For his part, Mendoza said he still has the Supreme Court to go to after the Comelec en banc junked his petition for reconsideration. Joel dela Torre |
