CAMP Nakar, Lucena City – Four heavily-armed communist guerrillas torched another cell tower of Globe Telecom in Sitio Igsuso, Barangay Tubili, Paluan, Occidental Mindoro.

A report reaching the office of Lt. Gen. Rholand Detabali, chief of the military's Southern Luzon Command here, said security guard Gilbert Marino was surprised by the rebels at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The rebels carted away Marino’s service firearm and cellphone and let him go unharmed. They then bombed the tower.

The blast destroyed a set power and a rectifier and a radio transmission system, two airconditioning units and a base transceiver system, the report said.

The rebels also torched a number of cell sites and construction heavy equipment in other parts of Southern Tagalog region.

In 2007 and 2008, the rebels burned a backhoe, bulldozers and dump trucks at road construction in San Teodoro and Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro.
