A HIGH SCHOOL teacher was shot dead by unidentified suspects inside his residence in Cordon, Isabela the other day.

Reports reaching Camp Crame said the victim, identified as Crispiniano Viernes, 45, married, of Barangay Gayong, Cordon, Isabela, was shot at 6:30 p.m.

Investigators said the victim ran home upon seeing motorcycle-riding armed men entering it. But he was twice shot by one of the suspects, killing him on the spot.

The victim’s wife, Bartasa Viernes, came to the rescue of her husband but she was pulled away by the suspects and demanded money from her.

For fear of her life, she handed the suspects her bag containing P2,000 and some personal documents.

The suspects quickly fled while the victim was rushed to  Javonillos Hospital in Cordon, Isabela, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
