GAPAN City -- Five suspected shoplifters and a driver were arrested for allegedly stealing P35,000 worth of assorted grocery items from a shopping mall the other day.
Nabbed were Arnel Saguid, 41, driver of KIA Pregio van (AHA-567), Nanette Kindipan, 24, of La Trinidad, Benguet, and Marilyn Serami, 39, Racquel Esteban, 39, and Jackilou Torral, 28, all of Baguio City.
Senior Supt. Roberto L. Aliggayu said the suspects were arrested shortly after mall security guards sought assistance from the Gapan police.
Aliggayu said the suspects were monitored through the mall’s close circuit television (CCTV) camera.
City police chief Supt. Samuel L. Sevilla said policemen accosted the suspects at the mall’s parking lot where their KIA Pregio van was parked.
Recovered from the van were assorted grocery items worth P35,000 believed stolen by the group from WalterMart and other shopping malls.
Sevilla said the suspects used to operate in Central Luzon, targeting big shopping malls such as SM in Tarlac and Puregold supermarket inside the Clark Special Economic Zone. Steve A. Gosuico
