THE remains of the overseas Filipina worker (OFW) who worked for a senator in Palau and who was hacked to death with a machete while on her way to a store is home.
The body of Virginia Ventura, 42, a native of Pangasinan, arrived at the NAIA the other night aboard the same flight that flew in Palau President Johnson Toribiong who met her family members at the airport’s dignitaries’ lounge.
Toribiong and the wife of his brother-senator, Ventura’s employer, handed over to Ventura’s family cash assistance, with Toribiong directing their ambassador to extend all necessary assistance which may still be needed.
On hand to receive the assistance were Ventura’s children Jerald, 22, Jeffrey, 19; Margie, 12, and Gieem, 10. Last June 28, Ventura was attacked with a machete by an unknown assailant, a man, along the road leading to the Koror State government office while she was on her way to the Q-lala Department Store beside Palau Hotel.
Responding policemen brought Ventura to the hospital for treatment.
However, she died the following day owing to severe lacerations on her head and arms.
The suspect, meanwhile, had been arrested and is presently detained at the Bureau of Correction of the Ministry of Justice of Palau. Itchie G. Cabayan
