NO Filipinos were reported injured in the violence that erupted in Egypt, the Department of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said the incident was concentrated in the place where the Israel Embassy is located. Reports said protesters broke into the Israeli Embassy in Cairo Friday and dumped documents out of the windows as hundreds demonstrated outside.
Crowds tore down an embassy security wall using sledgehammers and bare hands.
Egyptians were angered by a previous incident where Israeli forces, responding to a cross-border militant attack mistakenly killed five Egyptian police officers near the border.
On Friday, Egyptians held their first significant demonstrations in a month against the country’s military rulers.
