A YOUNG man wanted for murder and believed to be a leader of a notorious crime gang operating in Central Mindanao was killed in a gunbattle with agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat on Friday last week, PNP-CIDG chief, Director Roel B. Obusan said yesterday.

Twenty-three year-old suspect Charlie Dimalao alias ‘Salazar Dimalao’ exchanged fire with officers during a buy-bust operation in Purok 3, Barangay Bual in Isulan town and was killed on the spot, said Obusan.  Recovered from the suspect’s possession were a home-made submachine gun loaded with several live ammunition, two plastic sachets containing shabu and the marked money paid to him by an undercover officer.
