POLICE arrested a 39-year-old Greek for theft after he allegedly took two expensive magazines from a book store in a mall in Pasay City the other day.

Arrested was Lukas Georgiou, 39, single, presently staying in Rodelio Guest House in Makati City.

Senior Supt. Lawrence Coop, chief of Pasay City police, said the incident took place at 8 p.m. inside National Book Store in Mall of Asia (MOA), Pasay City.

Joselito Adlawan, security guard at the book store, told police that he earlier saw the suspect holding two magazines, The Economist Magazine and The World Magazine, which cost a total of P1,185.

He said moments later, he noticed Georgiou left and walk away from the magazine shelf heading not to cashier but to the exit and was about to step out of the book store.

He added that Georgiou failed to present a receipt for the two magazines when he accosted him, prompting him to hold him.

At the police station, the suspect claimed that he has no money to pay for the magazines. Theft charges were filed against him.
