Drug den caretaker, 8 others arrestedA MALE drug surrenderer, said to be a caretaker for a drug den located underneath a community church, was arrested along with eight others during an alleged buy-bust operation conducted by the Manila Police District (MPD) in Pandacan, Manila, the other night.
A report from the Manila Police District (MPD)-Station 10 said among those arrested were alleged drug den caretaker Danilo Lanyohan, of 1870 Guanzon St., Pandacan, Manila. The others apprehended and said to be his customers were identified as Abelardo Abolencia, Danilo Villar, Velmar Villara, Margarito Balbido, Gilbert Nacao, Ronelo Agulto, Marco Berba and Benjamin Tajar.
Police said that at around 8 p.m., the operation was carried out against Lanyohan right inside the drug den which is at the first floor of a house located at 1870 Guanzon St., where a Christian Church can be found at the second floor.
Prior to the said operation, a two-week surveillance was made in the area until police confirmed the existence of a drug den.
A policeman poseur-buyer was able to buy P500 worth of shabu from Lanyohan after which the latter was nabbed, along with his customers.
Police said Lanyohan previously surrendered to ‘Oplan Tokhang’ and even attended barangay drug programs twice but went back to his illegal activities just the same.
It was learned that Lanyohan would conduct shabu sessions in his place, timing it with the cooking of ‘lechon de leche’ and ‘Peking duck’ -- the business of the building owner -- to drown out the smell of shabu.
Lanyohan, meantime, denied the charges.
Barangay officials said various kinds of people go in and out of Lanyohan’s place every day. Found in his place were 15 plastic sachets of shabu.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165) will be filed against the arrested suspects.
