PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte is unfazed by Sen Leila de Lima’s claim that his defense of the policemen behind the killing of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. may be considered an impeachable offense.
“Hayaan mo sila... sige impeachable [offense daw], go ahead,” Duterte told reporters at the groundbreaking ceremony of facilities at the Bicol International Airport in Albay.
De Lima said it is the judiciary that should say if the accused are guilty or innocent, not Duterte.
“So bordering na yan to impeachability,” she said.
Duterte assured Vice President Leni Robredo that there is no plot to steal the vice presidency from her, despite his seeming closeness to her rival former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“I will assure Leni and the rest of the Bicol region that you will have her until the very end of her term. There is no such thing as removing a vice president,” he said in Legazpi City.
“There is no such thing as removing the vice president,” he added.
The President was reacting to Robredo’s claim that there is a plot to steal her position following her easing out of Duterte’s inner circle, prompting her to resign as housing czar.
