Cops hunt gangmen in killing of Albay town resident

LEGAZPI City -- Police are hunting down suspected members of the “Gilbert Concepcion Criminal Group” involved in the killing of a resident of Sitio Caratagan, Bgy.  Macabugos, Libon, Albay.

The victim was identified as Anjul Argarin Da-vid, 38.
   
In a report by the Police Regional Office in Camp Simeon Ola on Tuesday, the suspects in the shooting, Jonathan Ropio, alias “Alex,” and two others, were reportedly members of the “Concepcion Group.”
   
Libon police investigation revealed that the victim was shot dead in front of his house by Ropio and two others.    
   
SOCO investigators recovered at the crime scene two spent shells for M-16 rifle, two spent shells for  cal. .45 pistol, eight shells for 9mm pistol, a deformed slug for 9mm pistol and two live ammunition for cal. .45 pistol.
   
The recovered spent cartridges, slug and live bullets were handed over to RCLOS in Camp Simeon Ola for ballistic tests.
   
Earlier this week, an operation to serve a warrant of arrest against gang leader Gilbert Saysay Concepcion, alias “Bet,” at the residence of Ogie Lisaba at Zone 6, Bgy. Nogpo, Libon,  was marred with a shootout between joint police Intel operatives from Camp Simeon Ola and members of the Concepcion gang, which resulted in the death of gang member Jose Monsalve delos Reyes, alias “Jo,” and the recovery of a cal. .38 revolver loaded with five live ammo. A member of the joint police team, PO2 Manolo Andal Nierva, of the 5th RPSB was wounded in the right hand.
   
A blocking force of Albay PPO-SWAT team, led by Chief Insp. Rodel Arevalo, at nearby J. Cortes Elementary School, was also fired upon by gang members, but police operatives later captured a certain Alfredo Bazar Mata, another “Concepcion gang” member, who was armed with a revolver.
   
An inquest case for violation of RA 10591 has been filed against Mata, before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor of Albay, docketed under NPS No. V-08L-INQ-16K-00000.
