THE National Bureau of Investigation celebrates its 80th founding anniversary today with no less than President Duterte in attendance to give out awards to the agency’s officials and personnel for outstanding performances in their respective expertise.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II and officials from other agencies under the DoJ and law enforcement agencies will also attend the affair which has the theme “NBI@80: Makabago, Matatag, Kabalikat sa Katotohanan at Katarungan.”
Also expected to come are NBI Assistant Director Medardo G. de Lemos, Deputy Directors Jose D. Doloiras (Financial Service), Antonio M. Pagatpat (Regional Operations Service), Justo Justo S. Yap (Investigative Service), Eleanor Rachel R. Marfil-Angeles (Administrative Service), Ferdinand Lavin (Forensic Service), and Vicente A. De Guzman (Intelligence Service).
The NBI is the main investigating agency of the DoJ.
NBI Director Dante Gierran said the anniversary activities will begin with a Thanksgiving Mass at the NBI Chapel at 8 a.m., followed by a wreath laying at the Wall of Honor at 9:30 a.m. that was established in memory of the heroism of NBI agents and special investigators who have died in the line of duty.
Duterte will deliver his anniversary message in the afternoon after which he will be joined by Aguirre and Gierran in handing out awards to officials and employees who were adjudged by the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence chaired by Pagatpat.
The awards include Best Employee and Best Organizational Unit for each Service, Agent Achiever and Special Investigator Achiever of the Year and Outstanding Case of the Year, among others.
