BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan -- Four barangay captains, a barangay kagawad and a former municipal councilor, all of this town, were arrested yesterday during simultaneous service of 10 search warrants for violaton of Republic Act 9165 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 by joint police units from the province.
Allegedly, two of the barangay captains earlier ‘surrendered’ under Operation Tokhang of the local police.
The 10 search warrants were issued by Judge Ma. Ellen Aquilar of RTC Branbch 10, First Judicial Region of Burgos, Pangasinan.
The police operations, which commenced at 3 a.m. yesterday, was led by the Bayambang police, with elements from the Provincial Intelligence Branch, Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Branch, SWAT, Provincial Public Safety Company, Philippine Army, Philipine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 1 and the police stations of Lingayen, Binmaley, Urbiztondo, Bugallon and Bautista.
Eight search warrants yielded positive results while the two raids on the residences of two barangay captains had negative results.
From the initial report of Pangasinan PNP, arrested and the items confiscated from them were as follows: Tamaro Barangay Chairman Renato Cao Soriano (SW No. 231); two sachets (semi-bulto) of suspected shabu, a sachet of alleged Eadrix tablet, a sachet of alleged floxel antibiotic and a sachet of alleged bricamil tablet; Nalsian Barangay Chairman George E. Balbin (SW No. 232-016), two sachets of suspected shabu; San Gabriel 2nd Barangay Chairman Gildo A. Madronio (SW No. 234-016), three sachets of of suspected shabu; Beleng Barangay Chairman Eduardo P. Alcantara (SW. 233-016), four sachets of
suspected shabu; Malimpec Barangay Kagawad Mark Cayabyab Monderin (SW. No. 236-016), two sachets of suspected shabu; former municipal Councilor Gerardo C. de Vera, of Bgy. Zone 1 (SW No. 228-016), a cal. 9mm (SNVJC3604), and 12 live ammo for cal. 9mm;
Jose Sandy de Vera Gavino (SW No. 227-016), of Bgy. Tamaro, two sachets (mini-bulto) of suspected shabu and a red Nokia cellphone.
SW No. 235-016 was served at the residence of Iton Barangay Chairman Roderic T. Casingal but he was not home. Seized were three sachets of suspected shabu, an empty sachet with suspected shabu residue and one strip of aluminum foil.
The search warrants served at two barangay captains showed negative results.
The Bayambang PNP is now readying the cases to be filed in court against these high-value targets.
