SOME P1.2 million worth of property went up in smoke in a fire that displaced around 24 families Sunday night in Taguig City.
City fire marshall Chief Inspector Junito Maslang said the fire sparked by an unattended candle, struck at around 10:17 p.m. in the house of Merlinda Panganuron, of Champaca Street, Western Bicutan in Taguig. The fire quickly spread to 12 adjacent houses which were all made of light materials.
No one was reported injured in the fire but a suspected looter identified as Jeffrey Radaan was mauled by anangry crowd after he was accosted for allegedly trying to steal an iPod in one of the fire victims. Rada was charged for theft.
