INDANG, Cavite -- Some 900 chikungunya cases were reported in 16 barangays in this upland town by the Provincial Health Office.
Last September 27, 470 cases of chikungunya were reported in Bgys. Agus-os, Guyam Malaki, Calum-pang, Guyam Munti, Poblacion and Cerca and has reached 900 cases as of October 12, according to Mayor Perfecto Fidel.
“We were conducting fumigation and clean-up drive on all barangays to stop this outbreak,” Fidel said
The locality is still placed under a state of calamity due to the spread of the mosquito-borne disease in the area.
Chikungunya virus is a mosquito bite disease like dengue and Zika virus wherein the patient suffers high fever and muscle pains, among other symptoms.
