PHILIPPINE National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” M. de la Rosa is human after all and never ceases to amaze the public.
Before he left for an official Bangkok trip on Friday, the top cop posted a selfie of him wearing a wig similar to that of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre III — but looked like a young Justin Bieber to many, however— on Facebook and wrote a caption which made everybody laugh.
In the caption, the sharpshooting 4-star police general asked Senator Leila M. de Lima who is more handsome between him and Aguirre, the main nemesis of the former DoJ chief.
“Senator De Lima, you may or may not answer this question: Who is more handsome, me or Secretary Aguirre?” the caption read.
The post has gone viral since then although many netizens commented they prefer Gen. de la Rosa’s clean bald look. De Lima, who earlier said that the evidence presented against her by the DoJ was “fake” like Aguirre’s toupee, is yet to respond to the PNP chief’s question.
The embattled senator however has been doing the rounds of many all-girl schools in Metro Manila to defend herself from accusations she received protection money from drug lords detained at the New Bilibid Prisons.
Police have been banking on the popularity of Gen. de la Rosa that even the Police-Community Relations Group headed by Senior Superintendent Gilberto DC Cruz has come up with their own mascot called PO1 Bato who has been touring many parts of the country to promote the PNP chief’s campaign against illegal drug trafficking and abuse.
The Police Regional Office 7 headed by Chief Supt. Noli Taliño also has initiated its own “Look-Alike Contest” as part of its ongoing campaign against all forms of criminality in Central Visayas especially in the implementation of Oplan: Tokhang and Taphang.
PRO7 officers who emerged winners in the contest were Police Officer 1 Joemar Florentino as look-alike of Senator Manny Pacquiao; PO1 Jerome Lendio as Gen. de la Rosa’s look-alike; PO1 Kerstein Cledera as “Sen. de Lima” and PO1 Rufino Autentico as President Duterte’s look-alike.
The winners displayed the same voice, physical looks and behavior of their “idols” and are expected to break the ice and draw laughs during in PRO7 affairs.
