4 drug suspects nabbed in QC Muslim mosque raid

THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) raided the Salaam Mosque Compound in Bgy. Culiat, Quezon City, yesterday and arrested four drug suspects.

Acting QCPD director Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said combined elements of the District Anti-Illegal Drugs District Special Operations Unit (DAID) and the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU), Talipapa Police Station (PS-3), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), District Special Reaction Unit (DSRU) and Explosives Ordnance Division (EOD) were armed with three search warrants issued by Judge Bernelito Fernandez of RTC Branch 97, during the raid.
The subjects of the search warrants were Anang Asaha, a.k.a. “Gang,” of 102 Lanao St. corner Cotabato St.; Tripol Tan Aming, of 79 Libian St.; Aling Waradji a.k.a “Kumander Aling,” of 5 Sulu St., all in Salaam Mosque Compound.
At Tripol Aming’s house, Al-Nasief Aming, 22, and Alsarif Aming, 21, both from Tawi-Tawi, were arrested after illegal drugs were seen in plain view in their room. Further search of the house yi3lded firearms and other contraband. Seized from them were a US Carbine (M2) with nine live ammo, an extra magazine for Carbine, a cal. .45 pistol, a magazine with three rounds, a homemade cal.  .38 revolver with five live bullets, ¼ pound suspected TNT, two blasting caps, electrical cord and 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu. However, Aming managed to flee as the operatives arrived.
Likewise, at Waradji’s residence, the operatives seized eight heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu, a sealed transparent plastic bag containing nine small heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu, a 12- gauge live bullet, two live ammo for cal. .45 pistol and a cal. .40 pistol. Waradji also escaped the dragnet before it could close in.
At Asaha’s residence, Nuraina Aiyubie, 51, and Alkimar Alih, 21, both  of Jolo, Sulu, were arrested after four transparent plastic sachets of shabu and two disposable lighters were found. Like the other two targets, Asaha also eluded the raiding officers.
The raids were conducted in the presence of Kagawad Almera Ibrahim and BPSO Elcid Alaja of Bgy. Culiat, who are also residents of Salaam Mosque Compound.
Cases of violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms Regulation Act), RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 9516 (illegal possession of explosives) are being prepared against the suspects, who are in detention, for filing before the QC Prosecutor’s Office.
