THE Manila International Airport Authority  (MIAA) yesterday received a ‘text scare’ through its SMS hotline number.

In a press statement, the MIAA said that the text stated Manila as the ‘next target of terror attacks’. Pending investigation, other details were not immediately bared about the said text such as the exact contents, time sent and the number from which such text was sent.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal said that while MIAA’s SMS hotline is a publicly listed number, the MIAA is not taking the said text lightly.

He added that with the help of all concerned government agencies, the said message is now being validated. Said message was received by the MIAA through its hotline, 0917-TEXNAIA.

In view of this, Monreal assured that the NAIA terminals continue to be on full alert and that the MIAA and the  PNP-Aviation Security Group remain vigilant and alert against any attempt to disrupt airport operations.

A full alert security level had been raised at all NAIA terminals following the deadly Davao blast which prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to declare a ‘state of lawless violence’.
