3 car thieves slain in QC shootout

Three suspected car thieves were killed while their cohort  escaped during an encounter with Anti-Carnapping Unit of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Sunday night in Bgy. Vasra, Quezon City.

Acting QCPD director Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar identified only one of the slain suspects as Archilles Pamplona Velasco, 22, single, tricycle driver, of 4-A Area 7, Luzon Ave., Bgy. Pasong Tamo.
   
A report gathered from the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the incident happened at 10 p.m. Sunday.
   
Alberto Topacio was reportedly traversing along E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue on board his taxi (AAY-6451) when the four suspects flagged him down.
   
Moments later, one of the suspects pointed a gun at Topacio and declared a heist on Kamias Road.
   
The cabbie said the suspects kicked him out of the vehicle after taking his earnings.
   
The suspects sped away on board his cab.
   
The victim reported the incident to ANCAR-QCPD in Camp Karingal which immediately sounded an alarm thru DOTC, QCPD radio.
   
Operatives conducting Oplan Sita on North Avenue near cor. Agham Road, Bgy. Vasra, monitored the flash alarm and spotted the subject vehicle in the area.
   
ANCAR operatives flagged down the vehicle for verification.
   
Instead of stopping, the suspects fired at the policemen, who retaliated, hitting three of the suspects while the driver escaped. The three wounded suspects were rushed to East Avenue Medical Center but were declared dead on arrival by Dr. Patel Michael Mayuga, the attending physician.
   
Operatives recovered two Colt cal. .45 pistols loaded with three live rounds each and one Armscor cal. .45 loaded with four rounds.
